Hixon

Not an auspicious start this morning. Slightly chilly and raining.

However we meet the Bushes 9:00 am. Theycame up from Christina lake yesterday. They overnighted. end in the Walmart parking lot in Kelowna--something that die-hard RV'ers know all about. Ade did a quick run over to Walmart for some eye drops and we were on our way.

By the time we were in Kamloops we were starting to chase sunshine and it was feeling like we were truly on our way. Just beyond Kamloops the road got better and we were cruising along the 4 lane highway making great time. But where were Bushes?

We drove for at least 20 km and they never did show up in the rear view mirror. Also I was wondering when we were going to view the Thompson river. All were seeing was 4 lanes and the hills around us.

Oh, oh!! We were heading south on the Coquahalla--with lexis to turn around in!  Luckily we found an emergency turn-around lane, made a hasty U-turn and were heading back to Kamloops again. Instead of being ahead of the Bushes we were now 40 km behind them--lesson one:  do'nt turn off the tsp again!!

At Cache Creek we met up again and were on our way north.

We were too late to stop at Julie's Timber King office so we took a glimpse and kept on trucking.

Past rodeo town (Williams Lake), then mill town-Quesnel (where the lumber mills were busting at the seems with mountains of logs ready for processing and parking lots full of workers. Judging by the number of newer trucks in the lots, the recession was abating in this town.

Our destination was the one horse village of Hixon, just south of Prince George. One small pub, a general sore/gas stations and 2 RV campgrounds on a small river. Not normally a destination spot but very nice to pull in and park by the river and lay back for the evening.

Terry and I unhooked George and too hi for a quick ride to the pub to learn some history of the area from its tapman and one customer!  A couple of beers later, we solved the problems of the world and learned all you need to know about the place!

650+ km and we are well on our way.
